In Class 7A, the stronger regions dominated the first round and have left the Round of 16 teams filled with contenders. Region 3, 4, 6 and 7 each sent three teams into the second round, while Region 1, 2, 5 and 8 are left with just one team apiece in the next round. All eight No. 1 seeds advanced, which means that home teams were 12-4 in the first round. No. 3 seeds Mill Creek, Marietta, Roswell and Meadowcreek pulled off road victories. The playoffs resume for all seven classifications on Wednesday, May 3 and there will be plenty of premiere matchups taking place in Class 7A. Collins Hill will visit Walton in a top 10 showdown and Mill Creek, which is fresh off a 5-0 road win over Rockdale County, will take on top-seeded Pebblebrook.

In Class 6A, Region 7 swept Region 5 and sent all four teams into the second round. No. 4 seed Alpharetta defeated Region 5 champion Alexander 4-1 and Cambridge wore the third seed in its 5-1 road victory over Tri-Cities. No. 2 Centennial outscored Douglas County 4-1 and No. 1 Chattahoochee eliminated Hughes 3-1. Region 6 and Region 8 went par to the course with both top two seeds advancing but Region 2 and Region 3 excelled expectations by sending their top 3 seeds into the second round. Region 2 No. 3 seed Effinghan County took a 5-4 road win over Forest Park and Region 3 No. 3 seed Lakeside-Evans demolished Northside-Warner Robins 7-0.

Wayne County and Grady advanced as No. 4 seeds in Class 5A, which has one of the best slate of second round matches of any classification. Starr’s Mill and Clarkston, Rome and Veterans and Cross Keys and McIntosh are three of the intriguing top 10 matchups that will take place on Wednesday.

Eastside eliminated Region 2 No. 1 Mary Persons in the opening round of Class 4A action. Columbus and Marist meet in the second round after outscoring their opponents by a combined 16-0 in the first round. In Class 3A, Pace Academy gets set to face 17-1-1 Windsor Forest in the second round and all eight seeds are alive in the Sweet 16.

Region 7 swept the opening round in Class 2A as No. 4 seed Model held off Region 5 champion Spencer 2-1. Putnam County and Toombs County will meet in the next round with two losses each, while one-loss Fitzgerald (14-1-2) awaits Pepperrell (12-5-1), which defeated Callaway 4-0 in the first round.

In Class A, Area 5 swept its way into the second round with No. 4 seed Pinecrest Academy scoring a 1-0 win over Area 7 champion Darlington.
