Here are some of the top games involving Class AAAAA basketball teams this weekend:

- Allatoona at South Paulding, Friday (boys): Top-ranked Allatoona (16-0, 9-0) will try to strengthen its hold on first place in 5-AAAAA when it meets No. 7 South Paulding (15-2, 9-1). The Buccaneers lead South Paulding by a half-game, an advantage they gained with a 65-46 victory in the teams' first meeting on Dec. 18. Trey Doomes leads Allatoona with 15.2 points per game.

- Cedar Shoals at Heritage-Conyers, Friday (boys): The only AAAAA region with three boys teams ranked in the top 10 is 8-AAAAA, and two of those teams will meet this weekend with first place in the South subregion at stake. No. 4 Cedar Shoals (17-2, 8-1) has won six consecutive games. No. 6 Heritage (15-3, 7-1) is coming off a 96-68 loss to AAAAAA Brookwood on Tuesday.

- Brunswick at South Effingham, Saturday (girls): The top four teams in 3-AAAAA are running away from the pack, and they'll go head to head this weekend to begin sorting out the seeding for the region tournament. South Effingham and No. 2-ranked Brunswick (both 16-1, 5-1) are tied for second place. No. 1 Glynn Academy hosts fourth-place Effingham County on Friday.

- Southwest DeKalb at Stephenson, Friday (girls): Stephenson (13-4, 7-2) has won nine of 10 games since a 60-52 loss to the Panthers on Dec. 4. Fourth-ranked Southwest DeKalb is 13-5 overall, but it is 11-0 against Georgia teams and 8-0 in 6-AAAAA Division A. These two teams combined to win five of the past eight state championships in the second-highest classification.
