Top performances from Week 12: Efficient Mills leads balanced GAC

Greater Atlanta Christian's Davis Mills is rated the consensus No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the country among juniors, although it's not easy to see statistically.

GAC passes less than 20 times per game. There are several other quarterbacks with more passing yards. Not that Mills' numbers are bad. He is 111-of-186 passing for 1,880 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also has scored 10 touchdowns.

"We have a balanced offense that runs and throws, a good defense that gives us shorter fields, and we try to play a variety of guys when we get up," GAC coach Tim Hardy said. "However, he is really efficient, poised and effective.  He makes the most of the opportunities in front of him."

And when the game is on the line, Mills produces. On Friday, he led three fourth-quarter touchdown drives in a 35-31 victory over Wesleyan that was for the Region 6-AA championship. He threw a 44-yard TD pass to Liam Sullivan with 12 seconds left.

Hardy concludes, "Davis is really special and is as good as any quarterback in Georgia. Stanford, Michigan, UCLA and Oregon offers would agree." And now Wesleyan.

Mills made this week's Top Performances list.
