Three things to know: 1. In the 2014 game, Archer had first-and-goal at Grayson's 2-yard line in the fourth quarter, but Grayson stuffed four running plays to clinch the victory. Archer was held to 78 yards rushing. QB Chase Brice was 14-of-25 passing for 210 yards and threw a 75-yard TD pass. Grayson leads the series 4-1. 2. Brice, the consensus No. 11 pro-style quarterback prospect nationally among juniors, is 23-of-42 passing for 385 yards and four touchdowns in blowouts of Gainesville (34-0) and Hughes (56-21). RB Cameryn Brent has rushed for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Grayson has three major Division I prospects on the defensive line - Bryce Morais (Boston College), Mykelle McDaniel (more than 20 offers) and Chris Martin (Georgia Tech). 3. The main yardage-gainers on Archer's offense are RB Jamyest Williams (252 yards rushing, six touchdowns), WR Kyle Davis (10 catches, 177 yards) and QB Will Bearden (22-of-27 passing, 408 yards). Records, rankings: Bainbridge is 2-0 and No. 7 in Class AAAA; Monroe is 2-0 and unranked in AAAA.
Last meeting: Bainbridge won 7-6 in 2014.

No other Bainbridge player has more than five carries or 6 yards rushing. 2. Monroe has been relying on its defense in its first 2-0 start since 2011. The Tornadoes blocked two kicks and took advantage of two high snaps and a muffed punt in an 11-0 victory over Perry, then allowed two late touchdowns after taking a 33-0 lead against Terrell County. LB Antonio Leroy was an honorable mention all-state pick last season. 3. Bainbridge won last year's matchup when Dalvin Spivie ran 51 yards with a fake punt in the fourth quarter. Spivie also blocked the extra-point attempt when Monroe scored its touchdown. Monroe outgained Bainbridge 347-171, according to the Albany Herald. Bainbridge leads the series 10-7-2.

Elbert County QB Mecole Hardman was injured on Elbert's first drive and did not return for several games. 2. Hardman, a preseason AJC Super 11 pick, has rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries in two games. He has been less effective passing, completing only 12 of 29 throws. RB La'kel Hood is Elbert's second option on offense. He has rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. In the 34-30 victory over Stephens County last week, LB Ereon Teasley forced three fumbles and had 15 solo tackles and six assists. 3. QB Rankin Woley, an LSU baseball commit, rushed for 115 yards in Westminster's opening victory against Lovett but missed the Laney game with a non-football injury and is questionable for this game. RB Malcome was bottled up against Laney and has only 115 yards rushing in two games. The team's next-most valuable player is probably PK/P Blake Gillikin. Against Laney last week, he averaged 47.7 yards on six punts, with two over 50, three dead inside the 20-yard line and no touchbacks. Tyler Gillikin (brother) has 3.5 tackles for losses on defense.

Brooks has run for four touchdowns. 3. Commerce leads the series against its Jackson County rival 42-22-5, but Jefferson has won seven of the past eight meetings. Commerce won 12 consecutive games against the Dragons from 1995 to 2006.
Mary Persons at Lamar County
When, where: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Trojan Field, Barnesville
Records, rankings: Mary Persons is 2-0 and No. 5 in Class AAAA; Lamar County is 1-1 and No. 6 in AA.
Last meeting: Mary Persons won 29-27 in 2014.
Three things to know: 1. The 2014 game was called with 1:53 left in the third quarter, just as Lamar was lining up for a potential game-tying two-point conversion attempt. GHSA rules stated the game stood because it was a non-region contest. Mary Persons has won 19 of the last 20 (losing only in 2006) in a series it leads 30-4. 2. Lamar County RB Juan Tucker (29 carries, 111 yards) made preseason all-state but is his team's third-leading rusher in a balanced Wing-T offense that includes QB L.J. Smith (14-141) and RB Andruw O'Neal (15-161). All three play significantly on defense. Smith has two interceptions and a recovered fumble. The leading tackler is MLB Pippin Davis. 3. Records, rankings: McEachern is 2-0 and No. 2 in Class AAAAAA; Peachtree Ridge is 0-2 and unranked in AAAAAA.
Last meeting: McEachern won 35-21 in 2014.
Three things to know: 1. One of the top matchups of this game will be McEachern's potent passing game, led by junior QB Bailey Hockman, against a Peachtree Ridge secondary that features four players (Nigel Warrior, Baylen Buchanan, Chad Clay and Deangelo Gibbs) who are rated three stars or better by Rivals. Hockman has passed for 338 yards in two lopsided victories. 2. McEachern could be without junior WR Tyler Smith, a four-star recruit who left last week's game in the second quarter with a knee injury. The Indians were still awaiting tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury. 3. McEachern will be Peachtree Ridge's third consecutive opponent in the top 120 nationally in the MaxPreps rankings. The Indians, ranked No. 30, are coming off a 37-14 victory over Buford that snapped the Wolves' 42-game winning streak. Peachtree Ridge opened the season with losses to No. 120 Christ Presbyterian of Nashville and No. 37 Archer.
Thomson at Hart County
When, where: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Pete Herndon Stadium, Hartwell
Records, rankings: Thomson is 2-0 and No. 8 in Class AAAA; Hart County is 2-0 and No. 6 in AAA.
Last meeting: Hart County won 17-7 in 2014.
Three things to know: 1. The 2014 game was stopped with 11:06 left in the third quarter and eventually called because of lightning. Hart passed well but had only 29 yards rushing, and Thomson fared little better outside of Billy Mance's 62-yard TD run in the first quarter. 2. Mance is back for Thomson. He has rushed for 389 yards and six touchdowns in two games. Sophomore RB Tyrek Braswell has rushed for 144 yards. Thomson has completed only eight passes, but four have gone for touchdowns. MLB Billy Youngblood has 17 solo tackles, two sacks, two other tackles for losses and an interception. 3. Hart County has been impressive passing the ball in its 2-0 start. QB Robert Allen is 27-of-41 for 459 yards and four touchdowns. Allen also has rushed for 74 yards. Zach Maldonado has 17 catches for 312 yards and three touchdowns, all longer than 40 yards. He's also a strong punter. Dre Hughes has two interceptions.
Walton at Etowah
When, where: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Eagle Stadium, Woodstock

QB Patrick Ferris has passed for 511 yards, including a season-best 217 against Marietta. RB Tyray Devezin had 224 yards and two touchdowns rushing in a 36-21 victory against Cherokee last week. 3. Walton and Etowah were projected by the computer Maxwell Ratings during the preseason as likely playoff teams from 5-AAAAAA, along with defending region champion Milton and fifth-ranked Roswell. The winner of this game will retain at least a share of first place and be well-positioned for a run at the region title.
Ware County at Coffee
When, where: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jardine Stadium, Douglas
Records, rankings: Ware County is 2-0 overall, 0-0 in Region 3-AAAAA and No. 6; Coffee is 2-0, 0-0 and No. 7.
Last meeting: Ware County won 24-21 in 2014.
Three things to know: 1. This is the opening game in region play for both teams but could ultimately determine the 3-AAAAA champion, as was the case last year when both teams were undefeated in their other region games. Tenth-ranked Glynn Academy, which plays both teams in the next month, also will be a factor. 2. Ware County and Coffee both lean heavily on the running game. Ware County rushes for 223 yards and attempts just six passes per game. Senior Jaquez Bolds is the leading rusher, with 163 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries in two lopsided victories. Coffee is led by junior Demetrius Davis, who has 16 carries for 229 yards and four touchdowns, including an 85-yarder just 17 seconds into a 38-0 victory over Savannah two weeks ago. 3. Both teams have been strong defensively. Ware County, which allowed 9.3 points per game in 2014, has given up just two touchdowns in wins over Brooks County and Hampton. Coffee opened the season with consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2008.

RB Darius Bradford, a 1,000-yard rusher last season, has run for 276 yards in three games despite sitting out five of six second-half quarters. Isaiah Moorman has rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. 3. Westside entered the Top 10 this week on the strength of a 30-10 victory over Harris County. RB Donta Pate rushed for 125 yards on 21 carries. QB Savion Knowlton threw three TD passes in an opening victory over Rutland.
