Geoff Pastrick, who was named South Cobb’s football coach last month, is out because Cobb County Schools would not approve his hiring.
Pastrick has been replaced by assistant coach Sherrod Rainge, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Rainge had been the offensive line coach for the past two seasons.
Pastrick did not immediately return a call from an AJC reporter on Monday. He told the Marietta newspaper that the news surprised him.
“I will be looking for answers,” he said. “I’m still trying to get to the bottom of this. Cobb County is my home and where I wanted to be. This is my future, and to be treated this way is upsetting.”
Pastrick was head coach the past two seasons at Chapel Hill in Douglas County. His record was 11-11. He is a former assistant coach at Hillgrove and McEachern.
