The Region 8-AAAAA basketball tournament, scheduled to begin Monday at Loganville, will now begin on Thursday because of the inclement weather expected to hit the metro Atlanta area on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Monday's games between the Flowery Branch and Winder-Barrow boys and the Heritage-Conyers and Apalachee girls will be played beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at Loganville. The quarterfinals will be played Friday at Loganville and Apalachee high schools. The remainder of the tournament will be at Loganville, with the semifinals on Saturday and the championship and third-place games on Monday.
The sixth-ranked Clarke Central boys and third-ranked Salem girls are the top seeds.
