Region 5-AAAAAA has gone winless in the playoffs each of the past two seasons, losing to Gwinnett County teams from Region 8 in 2012 and Region 7 last year. This year, Region 5 teams Milton, Etowah, Roswell and Cherokee will avoid Gwinnett in the first round and instead play a Region 6 made up primarily of teams from Fulton and Forsyth counties. They should fare much better. Look for Milton to advance with a win over Northview and Etowah to beat South Forsyth. Cherokee is likely to lose to Alpharetta, but Roswell should be able to give Region 5 three victories with a close win against Lambert in what could be one of the best first-round games.
