More than 120 former Georgia high school players made opening-day NFL rosters as the regular season got under way this week, according to research by MaxPreps and Georgia High School Football Daily.

Eight played in Thursday night's Super Bowl rematch between the Broncos and Panthers, won by the Broncos 21-20. Those eight included reigning MVP Cam Newton of Westlake and the Panthers.

Many Georgia players made NFL rosters for the first time. Those included 2016 first-round draft picks Leonard Floyd of Dodge County (Bears), Sheldon Rankins of Eastside (Saints) and Robert Nkemdiche of Grayson (Cardinals).

The Georgia high schools with the most players on opening-day players are Peachtree Ridge, Stephenson and Westlake with four each.

The NFL team with the most Georgia players is the Chiefs with eight.

Within a few days, MaxPreps will report on how Georgia's totals compare to other states. In recent years, Georgia has trailed only California, Texas and Florida in NFL players.
