Milton’s Phil Jones shot a 68 to lead the Eagles to a one-shot victory in the Area 3-AAAAAAA tournament. Matthew Cinesi had 73, Michael Olmnstead shot 74 and Daulton Cauley added 76 for Milton, which scored a one-shot win over Etowah and Lambert.
Lambert’s Caleb Jenson shot 68 and Ryan Hines added a 70. Corey Chrzanowski shot 69 for Lambert. Other teams that qualified were West Forsyth, South Forsyth, Woodstock and North Forsyth. Jack Hudson of Lassiter qualified as an individual.
Other Class AAAAAAA
Area 1 boys: Led by Chase Weathers' 72, Camden County ran away with the area title. Colquitt County was second at 312, with Grayson and Tift County also qualifying. Davis Carter of Lowndes qualified as an individual.
Area 1 girls: Elizabeth Funderburk shot 79 and Colquitt County won the team title. Lowndes, behind a 7 of medalist Payton Elkins, was second and Tift County qualified third.
Alexis Taylor of South Gwinnett and Ally Holloway of Camden County were individual qualifiers.
Area 3 girls: Christine McDonnell shot 72 and Kate Owens had a 77 to pace Lambert's victory. South Forsyth, Roswell, Walton, Woodstock and North Forsyth also qualified. Etowah's Lexie Dawson qualified as an individual.
Area 4 boys: Mill Creek ran away from the field in a very difficult Area 4 tournament. The Hawks got a 69 from Alex Markham and shot a 290 team score to finish first. Jordan Smith had a 72 for Mill Creek, one of four teams that qualified for state.
Peachtree Ridge (309) got a 73 from Justin Kim, Brookwood (312) was led by Allen Rankin and North Gwinnett (318) got a 71 from Corey Ulp. Jacob Bayer of Collins Hill sot 66 to take medalist honors and qualified for state as an individual, as did Brock Healy of Norcross.
Area 4 girls: Emma Bell and Tess Davenport each shot 76 to lead Mill Creek. Peachtree Ridge, North Gwinnett and Collins Hill also qualified. The medalist was Jenny Bae of Collins Hill with a 73. Qualifying as individuals were Leiko Niwano of Duluth and Emi Sandy of Parkview.
Class AAAAAA
Area 3 boys: Cambridge and Johns Creek tied for first at 302. Cambridge got a 72 from Brad Plaziak and 75s from Blake Kollin and Ryan Demit. Johns Creek was led by medalist Andy Mao's 71 and Nic Cassidy's 73. Alpharetta, Dunwoody and Centennial also qualified. Tommy Su of Northview and Zachary Michael of Chattahoochee got in as individuals.
Area 3 girls: A 71 from Lizzie Reedy and an 84 from Alexis Brindley paced Pope to the championship. Johns Creek was second, with Amy Ng shooting 74. Northview, Cambridge and Alpharetta also qualified.
Area 4 boys: Brady Keran and Walker Winslette each had 70s in Creekview's win. Harrison qualified behind a 69 by Greg Soupiset. Dalton, Allatoona and Sequoyah also qualified. Medalist Austin Fulton of Douglas County was medalist with a 68 and qualified as an individual, as did Northgate's Jaden Hall.
Area 4 girls: Medalist Katelyn Skiffen shot 79 to lift Dalton to the title. Northgate, Creekview, Allatoona, Harrison and Sequoyah also qualified.
