Wesleyan girls roll: The top-ranked Lady Wolves marched to a 74-32 victory on the road against the No. 6-ranked Lovett Lady Lions on Friday in Region 6 play. The very next day, they traveled to, and defeated the state's No. 2 team, Holy Innocents' 58-52.

The Lady Lions now stand at 14-2 and have taken complete control of Region 6 with a 5-0 record in league play. The Lady Wolves finished the week 3-0, also beating a tough GAC team 65-58. Perhaps most impressive is all three of those games were on the road.

They'll face GAC again on Jan. 26 and Holy Innocents' on Feb. 2. Wesleyan hosts both of those games.

Thomasville boys escape one, tumble in another: The No. 1 Bulldogs couldn't quite pull off a tough pair of back-to-back region road wins. While they edged Region 1 rival and unranked Early County 79-76 on Friday, the next day they fell short against No. 9-ranked Seminole County 71-65.

The Bulldogs now stand at 16-1 and 4-1 in league play. They're tied for second in the region with Early County, with both of those teams 0.5 games behind Seminole County, which stands at 5-1. However, Seminole County's lone loss comes to Early County, so there's a three-way tie in the loss column.

Though unranked, Early County has shown it’s potential for a run in the state playoffs. Seminole County should most certainly see a boost in their ranking.

It's unlikely, however, that the Bulldogs' loss will be enough for them to lose their No. 1 ranking. That's because the state's No. 2 team, GAC, lost to No. 6 Lovett this weekend and now own an underwhelming 10-7 record. Holy Innocents', which holds the No. 3 ranking, lost to unranked Pace Academy on Monday.
