The lacrosse state tournaments kicked off on Tuesday. Below are some highlights, along with links to each updated playoff bracket and AJC predictions.

  • Area 3 No. 4 seed Buford, ranked No. 9, beat No. 4 Lovett, a No. 1 seed from Area 1, by a score of 14-13. Freshmen brothers Connor Mitchell (five goals) and Grant Mitchell (three) led the Wolves, and junior Gavin Kesserling also had three goals. Freshman keeper Lewis Taylor had 16 saves.
  • No. 6 Cambridge beat No. 5 Starr's Mill 11-7. Cambridge is a No. 3 seed from Area 3; Starr's Mill is a No. 2 seed from Area 1.
  • No. 7 Blessed Trinity beat McIntosh 12-6, led by Matt Higgins' three goals. Sam Miller and Justin Holler each scored two goals, while Higgins had three assists and Thomas Higgins had two assists. Bric Nicholl had 10 saves. Blessed Trinity is a No. 2 seed from Area 3.
  • No. 3 GAC dominated Woodward Academy by a score of 20-4. The Spartans were led by Ford Higgins (five goals, two assists), Justin Parker (six assists), Kevin Shrake (13 for 13 on faceoffs) and Brad Hodoval (eight saves).
  • No. 1 Milton beat Archer 20-4, with Savannah Cosman scoring four goals with an assist. Emily Velez
  • No. 5 Lassiter (Area 2, No. 3 seed) topped No. 6 North Gwinnett (Area 4, No. 2) by a score of 9-8. North Gwinnett was led by Parker Nevels' three draw controls, five ground balls and two goals. Samantha Gladstein ended the season with 105 saves. The Lady Bulldogs graduate just one senior and will return nine juniors next year.
  • No. 7 Northview beat No. 8 Harrison 13-11. Northview is the No. 3 seed from Area 3; Harrison is the No. 2 seed from Area 1. Sophie Kopec led Northview with seven goals and five draw controls. Grace Keenan had four ground balls and Kendall May had 12 saves. For Harrison, Emma Chorney had five goals, followed by Katie Define (three goals) and Gabby Grizzle (two goals). Erin Benjami had six saves.
  • Unranked Kennesaw Mountain continues to impress, beating No. 9 West Forsyth 19-9. Kennesaw Mountain, a No. 1 seed from Area 1, was led by Allie Dreyer's eight goals and three assists. Lily Morin added six goals and two assists, while Michy Ramos had 10 saves. The Lady Mustangs advance to the second round for the first time in school history, where they'll play No. 2 Walton.
  • No. 3 Mill Creek beat Etowah 15-5 led by Amya Hudson (three goals, seven assists), Amanda Kozlowski (four draw controls, four ground balls), Mackenzie Geist (three turnovers, three ground balls), Lyndsey Lewis (two goals, two assists, two draw controls, two ground balls), Sara Grieco (three goals) and Kelly Brown (two draw controls, three ground balls).
