Von Lassiter, who led Houston County to unprecedented heights with star quarterback Jake Fromm, is the new head coach at alma mater, Bleckley County, The Macon Telegraph reported Friday night.

Lassiter’s teams were 35-12 in his four seasons at Houston County. That is the best four-year run in school history, which dates to 1991. Fromm, an early enrollee at the University of Georgia, passed for 12,817 yards and 116 touchdowns in that era.

Lassiter had been an assistant coach at Northside-Warner Robins and West Laurens prior to getting the Houston County job in 2013. He also had worked on Bleckley County’s staff.

Bleckley County has had only four winning seasons (most recently 9-3 in 2013) since Lassiter graduated from the school in 1997. Bleckley was 2-8 last season.
