- National recognition: Harrison, the defending Class AAAAAA champion, is ranked No. 1 nationally among spring girls teams by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, which released its first poll of the season on Tuesday. The Hoyas are joined in the top 20 by Marist at No. 5, Northgate at No. 12 and Westminster at No. 17. The NSCAA also releases regional rankings, and the top 10 in Region II (made up of Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama schools) includes No. 1 Harrison, No. 2 Marist, No. 4 Northgate, No. 5 Westminster, No. 8 St. Pius and No. 10 Grayson. The NSCAA will update its rankings three times this season before announcing its final poll on June 23.

- Aiming for more: Marietta, which reached the second round in Class AAAAAA last season, is in the hunt for another playoff berth at 8-3 overall and 3-2 in Region 4-AAAAAA despite a 5-0 loss to Harrison on Tuesday. The Blue Devils are led by Ashton Adams, who will join GAC's Halle Huff at Georgia Southern next fall.

- Top scorers: Arabia Mountain has two of the top three goal scorers in DeKalb County and the top three in assists, according to statistics released by the county last week. Sophomore Juveina Hylton leads the county with 19 goals, and junior Elisa Miller is third with 14. Hylton and sophomore Danielle Dean lead with 10 assists each, followed by sophomore Camille Townsend with eight. Southwest DeKalb freshman Georgi-Ann Sinclair is second in goals with 15. Arabia Mountain (10-2 overall and 4-2 in Region 6-AAAA) will return to action Friday at Lithonia.
