Columbus beat LaGrange by 29 shots to win the Region 5-AAAA championship at Bull Creek. It was the 10th straight region championship for the Blue Devils. Daniel Davis shot 72 to earn medalist by one stroke over teammate Patrick Edwards. Columbus had the five lowest scores of the tournament. …

Girls tennis: Buford opens with win

Buford (20-2) opened the Class AAA playoffs with a 5-0 win over Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. Annalea Stevens, Baily McCammon and Katie Quinn played singles for the Wolves. … Gainesville had no trouble in a 3-0 win over North Atlanta in the Class AAAAA playoffs.
