*Golden Lions' streak ends: Defending AAA champion St. Pius, the No. 1 team in the classification in the most recent Score Atlanta and Eurosport rankings, had a 10-match winning streak snapped when it lost 4-1 to Class AA No. 2 Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday. Reagan Glisson had two goals and an assist for GAC, according to the report in the Gwinnett Daily Post, and Danielle Marcano and Anne Winfrey each added a goal. St. Pius (11-3), which won state titles in four of the past five seasons, had allowed just three goals during the winning streak. The Golden Lions' other losses this season have come against Class AAAAAA No. 1 Grayson and Class AAAAA No. 3 Starr's Mill. Greater Atlanta Christian (11-2-1) has won six consecutive matches heading into Tuesday's game against Wesleyan.

*Fighting for position in 4-AAAAA: The big showdown between Northgate and Starr's Mill, ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in Class AAAAA by Eurosport, was postponed Friday because of soggy conditions and will be played on April 14. Both teams are battling with No. 2 McIntosh for the top seed in Region 4-AAAAA. Northgate (10-1, 6-1), which suffered its first loss of the season against McIntosh last week, rebounded with a victory against Carrollton and faces Mundy's Mill, East Coweta and Newnan this week. Starr's Mill (13-1, 7-0) has won 13 consecutive games since losing to Class AAAAAA No. 2 Harrison in the opener and has not allowed a goal in its past eight games. The Panthers play at Whitewater on Thursday.

*Top performances: Harrison's Treva Aycock scored four goals in the Hoyas' 5-0 victory against Marietta on Thursday. It was the seventh consecutive shutout for the Harrison (12-0), which has allowed just three goals this season. The Hoyas will return to action on April 8 against South Forsyth (9-3). … Aquinas sophomore forward Ashlyn Shields had back-to-back games of four goals and two assists in recent victories against Richmond Academy (9-0) and Lincoln County (10-0). Shields leads the team in goals (14) and assists (nine). … Hannah Hester scored two goals to lead Johnson-Gainesville to a 5-0 victory over Chestatee in Region 8-AAAA on Friday. It was the sixth consecutive victory for Johnson, which started the season 0-5-1.
