GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Amos McCreary, Whitewater
1. Who is/was the most influential person in your coaching career? "My high school coach, Charlie Hunter. He taught me to keep going even though the road may have a few bumps. One of his favorite sayings: 'Life is like a beautiful bird until it poops on you, and then you must wipe it off and keep on going.'"
2. Who is the best Georgia player you ever faced? "Eric Berry, Creekside. He played on offense and defense and was equally as good on both sides. As a rookie in the NFL, he was in the Pro Bowl."
3. What is the best team you ever faced as a coach? "Gainesville High School in the 2012 state semifinals. They beat us 28-14, and the next week had Ware County 40-0 in the first half. They had Deshaun Watson, now the starting quarterback at Clemson. [Gainesville led Ware County only 28-7 in the first half, but it was 42-7 in the third quarter.]
4. If you were Gary Phillips, the new head of the GHSA, what would be the first rule that you would try to change? "Well, Gary Phillips is on the inside every day, and if there is a rule that needs changing he will get it changed.
