GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Ben Simmons, Turner County
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "My most memorable game as a coach was in 1997. I was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for Raines High School in Jacksonville, Fla. On Dec. 20, 1997, we won the Class 4A state championship, defeating Belle Glades 33-27."
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "My high school coach, Freddie Stephens [at Raines]."
3. What is your favorite saying/motto? "Believe It!"
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "I would like to see an alteration of the heat policy. I would like to see the rule for heat index and practice regulations be consistent for everyone. The GHSA needs to monitor the hottest temperature in the state of Georgia each day. Once the hottest temperature has been determined, have all schools in the state follow the guidelines established for that day's practice."
