GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Todd Winter, Pinecrest Academy
1. Who is/was the most influential person in your coaching career? "Larry Kindbom, head football coach at Washington University in St. Louis. Coach K taught me the importance of technique, how to evaluate film, coach the coaches and how to operate a first-class program from the top to bottom."
2. Who is the best Georgia player you ever faced? "Stanley Williams George Walton Academy, 2012-13. He was without question very fast. What made him special was his vision and ability to cut laterally." [Williams has been a prominent player as a true freshman at Kentucky this fall.]
3. What is the best team you ever faced as a coach? "The 1995 Hazelwood East team that I faced when I was the head coach at Ritenour High School in St. Louis is still to this day the best team I have ever had to play. They had eight offensive starters go Division I. They executed well in all phases of the game. They went undefeated and won the state championship that year. In Georgia, the best team I've faced is Mount Paran Christian, 2014."
4. If you were Gary Phillips, the new head of the GHSA, what would be the first rule that you would try to change? "I have only been in Georgia for three years and really don't see any problems at this point with any of the rules."
