GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Keith Holloway, Mount Zion
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "I was offensive coordinator at Alexander High School [when] we beat a very good McEachern team in OT, 1994." [Alexander won 14-7 in overtime. Alexander was the only region opponent to beat McEachern in the regular season from 1986 through 1999.] "Also, as head coach, beating ECI in the first round of the playoffs last year." [That was Mount Zion's first playoff victory since 2001.]
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "Dennis Cook was my high school coach at Bowdon. He came there my senior year. He taught me work ethic and to never give up. He was and is a great role model. After high school, I helped him coach while I attended college. He is a very intelligent man and great football technician. I learned the Wing-T offense from him and his coaches. Twelve years later I had the opportunity to work with him at Central of Carroll before I left for Bowdon. He still lives in Carrollton, teaches elementary P.E. and spends his Friday and Saturday nights watching his sons coach."
3. What is your favorite saying/motto? "It's a game of hit or be hit."
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "The sideline rule. Officials should be on the field. Chains should be in first box. Refs spend more time worrying about their running lane than watching the game."
