There will be a shakeup in the AAA rankings in the wake of No. 9 East Hall’s upset win over No. 1 Dawson County. The Vikings used a 17-9 run in the second quarter to hand the Tigers their first loss of the season and their first regular-season setback since 2013-14. Ashlynn Ellison scored 24 points to lead East Hall (15-4). Kaylee Sticker scored 16 for Dawson County (17-1). Kylah Mize and Carly Winters each scored 16 for East Hall.

The Dodge County girls set up a showdown for first place in Region 1-AAA Division A by beating Savannah 69-54 on Friday. Tierra Hamiton scored 23 for the Indians (10-3, 6-2), who stopped a two-game slide. Dodge will meet Tattnall County (13-3) on Tuesday, with the winner moving into sole possession of first.

Boys

The Banks County boys are really rolling in Region 7-AAA. The Leopards (16-2) had two players with double-doubles in Friday’s 62-54 win over West Hall, with Kahmal Wiley getting 17 points and 10 rebounds and Zac Orr posting 13 points and 12 rebounds. Trevae Cain just missing joining them, adding 12 points and nine rebounds. Banks has won four straight and is in first place at 6-0; the Leopards have a rematch with second-place East Hall on Tuesday.

The defending champion Jenkins boys just keep winning. The Warriors (15-2) made it 12 in a row on Friday by trouncing Tattnall County 74-54 and improving to 7-0 in Region 1. Trevion Lamar scored 18 and Michael Coffee added 15 for Jenkins, who had four in double figures. Jenkins has a big game on Tuesday night against Johnson.

The Callaway boys ended Pepperell’s eight-game winning streak on Friday, beating the Dragons 76-54. The Cavaliers haven’t lost a region game since 2014 and improved to 9-3, 4-0 in Region 5-AAA. The Cavs are led by Dre Martin, the region’s reigning player of the year, and all-region player Ernest Patillo.
