Two state-championship games will match teams from the same region. They are Blessed Trinity vs. Westminster (4-AAA) and Clinch County vs. Irwin County (2-A). That will mark the 14th and 15th time that region rivals have met in the finals. It became possible in 1990, when the GHSA opened the state playoffs to non-region champions.
