--Locust Grove rallied back from an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit to stun Mt. Zion, Jonesboro, 52-46, in double overtime. Champ Leddon and Demontea Smith scored touchdowns during the late rally, and Voshon Ramcharan’s field game forced overtime. Smith scored again in overtime, and Caleb Huntley punched in the winning touchdown in the second overtime for the Wildcats.
--Woodward Academy star running back Elijah Holyfield returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and scored three more times, including a 69-yard touchdown run, in the War Eagles’ 57-0 win over Clarkston. Holyfield, the son of boxing great Evander Holyfield, finished with 124 yards on eight carries.
--Carrollton, off to its worst start since 1977, picked up its first victory under first-year coach Ed Dudley. Conrad Jackson and Osorio Angalo each scored two touchdowns for the Trojans, and Jett Driver and Dante Wigley scored special teams touchdowns in a 46-10 victory over North Hall.
--Washington County quarterback A.J. Gray accounted for six touchdowns in the Golden Hawks’ 47-27 win over Burke County. Gray rushed 240 yards and four scores and added two passing touchdowns.
--Columbia quarterback Andre Brown threw four touchdown passes and rushed for 108 yards in the Eagles’ 48-13 win over Redan.
--Six different players scored touchdowns in Class AAAA No. 1 Buford’s 42-10 win over White County. Josh Thomas, Xavier Gantt, Evyn Cooper, Jordan Perlotte, Connor Tarleton and Elijah Bryant scored for the undefeated Wolves, who won their debut in Region 8-AAAA.
