William Andrews is best known as a four-time Pro Bowl performer for the Atlanta Falcons whose jersey No. 31 is retired.

His NFL success didn't come as a surprise to Thomasville, which won Class AAA championships in 1973 and 1974 with Andrews as its feature back.

Andrews rushed for 4,339 yards in his career and 1,690 yards in 13 games in his senior season, when Thomasville was named the national champion by the National Sports News Service.

The best players in the history of the current Region 1-AA schools also include Cincinnati Bengals safety Shawn Williams and former Florida State and Falcons lineman Jim Hendley.

Current college players Malkom Parrish of Georgia and J.D. King of Oklahoma State - both former AJC Super 11 picks - are here.

Parrish, who beat out former Brooks County stars Chris Cole and Marcus Stroud, was 33-6 as a starting quarterback and rushed for 1,300 yards and passed for 2,600 yards as a senior.

King rushed for nearly 6,000 career yards and led Fitzgerald to consecutive Class AA finals appearances.
