Loganville defeated South Effingham 5-2 on Wednesday in Game 3 of their best-of-three Class AAAAA semifinal series in Guyton.

Loganville’s Morgan Copeland homered in the top of the first inning for a 1-0 lead, and Loganville never trailed. Jonathan Lee was 2-for-2 with two walks for Loganville. Rhett Mixon was 2-for-3.

Ryan English was the winning pitcher. He went five innings and allowed three runs, six hits and a walk. Drew Franklin pitched two scoreless innings for the save. He drew a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

South Effingham’s Garrett Hodges was 2-for-3 with a home run. He was the starting pitcher and chased in the fifth inning.

Loganville will play at Houston County in the AAAAA final beginning Saturday.
