It's just two games into the season, but I discovered an interesting item going over the NBA statistics this morning. The Hawks are the league's top 3-point shooting team with a 47.6 percent (20 of 42) success rate. They best the second-place Rockets at 42.2 percent.

The Hawks are third in the league in 3-pointers made per game at 10.0. The Rockets lead at 12.7 per game.

Here is the really interesting point. The Hawks are tied for 17th in 3-point attempts per game at 21.0. That falls way below the leading Clippers at 31.3 per game.

Included in the overall team success, the Hawks have three of the league's top-5 3-point shooters. The Spurs' Tony Parker is a perfect 100 percent (6 of 6). He is followed by:

* Kyle Korver is second at 80 percent (8 of 10).

* Mike Scott is fourth at 71.4 percent (5 of 7).

* Jeff Teague is tied for fifth at 66.7 percent (2 of 3).

Overall, the Hawks are third in the league in field-goal percentage at 50.3 percent. They trail only the Mavericks (52 percent) and the Wizards (50.4 percent).

The Hawks also picked up where they left off last season in the assist category. They currently lead the NBA with 26.0 assists per game.

I am headed to practice after the team (and hence I) had Sunday off. Check back for further updates.
