Sorry folks for the late post. Was running around chasing a couple of items and working on season preview stories (shameless plug, look for it all Saturday online/Sunday print).
The Hawks will go with their normal starting lineup as they prepare for opening night. Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap and Al Horford will start. According to coach Mike Budenholzer, several players might not get in the game as the roster still stands at 17. He declined to say what players would be held out. Look for Horford to play more than the 20 minutes he played Saturday.
I asked Budenholzer whether we would get a better indication of what his regular-season rotation would look like from tonight's game.
"We are getting closer to that," Budenholzer said. "The great thing about our team is we have some good depth and that will be one of the hard things is figuring out how to use them all and taking advantage of all their abilities. It's probably something that will be ongoing, assuming we are healthy. We have a lot of guys who really deserve to play. Even saying yes, it's saying yes with an asterisk."
The Hornets will start Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Cody Zeller, Bismack Biyombo, Gary Neal and Kemba Walker. According to coach Steve Clifford, former Hawk Marvin Williams, Al Jefferson and Gerald Wallace will not play.
I was able to say hello to Williams, always a class act, as he was wearing a Seattle Seahawks cap. He smiled when I reminded him the Seahawks were just 3-3. The Seahawks play at the Panthers on Sunday and Williams said he plans to attend.
