In honor of tonight’s announcement of All-Star reserves, the five observations from Wednesday’s 113-102 win over the Nets will feature a look at each Hawks candidate.
1. Paul Millsap recorded his team-leading 11th double-double with a game-high 28 points and 15 rebounds. He scored his 28 points shooting 5 of 9 from the field and 15 of 16 from the free-throw line. The 15 makes was a career high and the 16 attempts tied a career high. According to the Hawks, Millsap became just the fourth player in NBA history to score at least 28 points on five or fewer field goals while shooting 50 percent or better. He joined Paul Pierice, Chauncey Billups and Jeff Ruland. Millsap is now the team's leading scorer at 17.2 points per game and leading rebounder at 8.1 per game.
2. Al Horford had his eighth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He is averaging 18.3 points on 74.1 percent shooting (63 of 85) over the past eight games. Horford is the only player in the NBA this season – and he's done it twice now – to record 20 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and five or more assists with a .769 or better field goal percentage. He is third on the team in scoring at 15.3 points per game
3. Jeff Teague had his eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 assists. It was his 40th points/assists double-double of his career which ranks sixth in franchise history. (The Hawks are 33-7 in those games). Teague made one 3-pointer to tie Jamal Crawford for eighth on the Hawks' all-time list with 282. He is second on the team in scoring at 17.0 points per game.
4. Kyle Korver finished with 17 points and was 5 of 8 from 3-point range. It marked the eighth time this season that Korver has made at least five 3-pointers in a game. He did that seven times all of last season. Korver continues to lead the NBA in 3-point percentage of 53.4 percent. That is 6.1 percentage points higher than second place Courtney Lee. He is second in the league in 3-pointers made (140, one behind Wesley Matthews) and 10th in attempts (262).
5. DeMarre Carroll scored 12 points against the Nets, the 30th time he has scored in double figures this season. He scored in double figures 44 times last season. Carroll was also 2 of 4 from 3-point range. It was the 21st time he has hit multiple 3-pointers in a game this season. He did that 25 times all of last season.
