FLOWERY BRANCH – Most folks want to know why the Falcons, who are trying to improve their pass-rush, re-signed defensive end Kroy Biermann on Wednesday.

Here are the five reasons why the Falcons re-signed Biermann:

1. He did lead the worst defense in the league with 4.5 sacks last season.

2. Nobody else wanted him in free agency.

3. Perhaps more of his skills will return in his second year back from Achilles surgery.

4. He could provide depth and help on special teams.

5. He wears those fierce red contacts during the games.
