FLOWERY BRANCH – The most severe part of the noise gate penalties is the fifth-round pick the Falcons will forfeit in the 2016 draft.

Most folks around the league though the Falcons got off with a light tap on the wrist from the NFL’s vice president of football operations, Troy Vincent.

Here’s a look at the players selected in the fifth-round by general manager Thomas Dimitroff since 2008:

2014

Ricardo Allen, CB, Purdue (147th overall): Has not played in a game.

Marquis Spruill, LB, Syracuse (168): Missed last season after suffering a knee injury.

2013

Stansly Maponga, DE, Texas Christian (153): He has played in 24 games over the past two seasons with no starts.

2012

Bradie Ewing, FB, Wisconsin (157): Retired on Friday. His career was marred by injuries.

Jonathan Massaquoi, DE, Troy ( 164): Showed some promises, but fell out of favor with the coaching staff. He was released this offseason and signed with Tennesee.

2011

Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Oregon State (195): He was a productive special teams player and back-up running back. He caught more than 50 passes out of the backfield in 2012 and 2013. He averaged just 3.7 yards over 305 career carries.

2010

Dominique Franks, CB, Oklahoma (135): He played in 48 games with the Falcons and made four starts. He was with Baltimore last season.

Kerry Meier, WR, Kansas (165): He played in 12 games in 2011 before retiring.

2009

William Middleton, CB, Furman (138): The former Marist product has made 12 NFL starts and played in 49 games for Jacksonville. He did two brief stints with the Falcons and also spent time with Tampa Bay and San Diego.

Garrett Reynolds, OG, North Carolina (156): Won the starting right guard spot entering the season opener for three straight seasons from 2011 to 2013, but couldn't hold down the position. He was released and played last season with Detroit. He's been reunited with his first offensive line coach Paul Boudreau in St. Louis.

2008

Robert James, LB, Arizona State (138): He played in 18 games with no starts. He was with Kansas City in 2013.
