Falcons to hold McKinley out of first exhibition game

Aug 10, 2017

MIAMI-- The Falcons are going to hold first-round draft pick Takkarist McKinley out of the exhibition game against Miami tonight, Coach Dan Quinn told The Atlanta-Journal Constitution before taking the field for warm-ups.

Quinn said McKinley has been splitting repetitions with Adrian Clayborn and would get more reps next week.

“He’s been practicing so hard," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "He’s been hard-charging. One of the first things that he did was when he got in one-on-ones, he showed that speed to power.

"We were so proud of how he just exploded in. We want to make sure that we are easing in with him. He’s a guy that we are not going to rush. Hopefully, in the next couple of games we’ll be ready to go with him."
