One person was killed in a serious head-on collision on Holcomb Bridge Road in Gwinnett County that closed part of the road for hours and caused traffic delays Thursday morning.

Gwinnett police said one vehicle side-swiped another vehicle and then crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line, Lubaba Mohammed, died at the scene. The second driver was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The crash happened at the Brookwood Road intersection around 7:15 a.m. and shut down the busy road just east of Peachtree Corners Circle until mid-morning. The closure also caused delays on nearby Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

About 15 miles away in Roswell, another section of Holcomb Bridge Road was briefly shut down in an unrelated incident.

Roswell police investigated a bomb threat at The Goddard School, closing the road in both directions for less than an hour. All students were safely evacuated, and police swept the area with an explosive ordnance detection K-9 team but found nothing.

“Our investigation will now move into identifying and prosecuting those responsible,” the department said in an update. No other information was released.
