Bumble Bee has launched a voluntary recall of thousands of cans of tuna that may have been contaminated by spoilage organisms or pathogens.
More than 31,500 cans of Bumble Bee tuna, produced in February, have been put on the list, including 5-ounce chunk light in water,5-ounce chunk light in oil and 4 Pack of 5-ounce oz Bumble Bee
Chunk Light Tuna in water. The cans were distributed nationwide.
The Food and Drug Administration said there have been no reports of illness associated with the products to date.
The FDA said the recall is “being initiated out of an abundance of caution due to the possible under-processing of the affected products discovered by the co-packer during its routine quality audit. Bumble Bee is working closely with the co-packer and the FDA to expedite the removal of products from commerce.”
The impacted can labels are:
UPC label: 8660000020 and “best buy” dates of Feb.10, 2019, Feb. 16, 2019, Feb. 17, 2019, Feb. 18, 2019, Feb. 22, 2019, Feb. 23, 2019 and Feb. 25, 2019.
UPC label: 8660000021 and “best buy” dates of Feb. 23, 2019.
UPC label: 8660000736 and “best buy” dates of Feb. 9, 2019, Feb. 10,2019, Feb. 22, 2019 and Feb. 29, 2019.
