Health care giant Kaiser Permanente plans an expansion in Gwinnett County involving more than 700 jobs over several years, three people with knowledge of the situation told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The expansion is expected to be formally announced Thursday by Gov. Nathan Deal, local leaders and company officials.
The nature of the expansion is not immediately known, but it is said to involve many high-paying jobs. Whether all the jobs are new to Georgia wasn’t immediately clear.
A spokeswoman for Kaiser Permanente said she could not confirm anything at this time. Messages left with Gwinnett economic development and political leaders were not immediately returned.
Kaiser has about 4,000 workers in metro Atlanta and about 280,000 customers in the state, company officials said last year.
The expected announcement would be Kaiser Permanente’s second major jobs expansion in the past year.

In April of last year, the non-profit health care giant announced plans for a technology center in Midtown Atlanta that would house 900 workers, including software developers and cybersecurity experts.
That move, to an office building near the Woodruff Arts Center, was made in part to be close to mass transit, Kaiser officials said at the time.
The new Gwinnett jobs were described as largely high-paying ones. But further details were not immediately available.
