Before you say Georgia, think again.
LSU has finished lower in the final AP poll than where it started each of the past three years.
The Tigers, who at last report, still needed a starting QB to go along with all those skill players, are No. 14 in this year’s preseason poll, which was released Sunday.
LSU was 13th in last year’s preseason AP poll, but finished No. 23 with an 8-4 record.
The Tigers were 12th in the 2013 preseason poll, but finished 14th at 10-3.
In 2012, LSU started the season ranked third, which would have been tough to improve. The Tigers won 10 games (10-3), but dropped out of the Top 10 to finish at No. 14.
That’s downright depressing for a program that won national titles in 2003 and ’07.
The Tigers still have top RB Leonard Fournette and the swagger of being called “DBU,” but don’t expect them to reverse that trend this season.
Which might drive Les Miles a little more mad.
