Coming into this season many thought the Tennessee Volunteers had a great chance to win the SEC East. A large reason; they returned all 11 offensive starters from last season.

Now that number may be down to 10.

Junior wide receiver Marquez North is likely done for the season after suffering a non-contact leg injury in practice, according to FoxSports Knoxville’s Brad Matthews.

This is potentially a big loss for the Volunteers as North led the team in receiving yards his freshman year and tied for the team lead in touchdowns (4) in his sophomore season.

The junior managed to rack up these stats while battling nagging injuries, most recently a torn labrum that forced him out of the final two games of last season.
Tennessee still has the potential to be very good on offense with quarterback Josh Dobbs and running back Jalen Hurd returning. Combine that with an experienced offensive line and the addition of impressive freshman-recruit Alvin Kamara and Tennessee will be in good shape.

Tennessee may still be very good, but there is no replacing North’s 6-foot-3 frame. If he is indeed done for the season, the red zone target will surely be missed in Knoxville.
