Alabama's chances at landing an elite signal caller its 2017 signing class got a big boost on Sunday. Las Vegas QB Tate Martell shared his Top 5 on Twitter Sunday afternoon.

Alabama appears to be right in the thick of it.

Martell notes that he will also release his commitment date soon. He’s rated as a 5-star QB by the 247sports composite and as the nation’s No 1 dual-threat passer for the 2017 signing class. He’s rated as the No. 11 overall prospect for his signing class, too.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder doesn’t have elite size, but he’s earned that 5-star status based on his ability to make plays. He led Bishop Gorman (Nevada) to a 15-0 record last season as a sophomore.
