UGA and Georgia Tech are out for the state's top-rated basketball prospect since Derrick Favors, per a report.

Jaylen Brown is a 6-foot-7 forward from Wheeler High School who is rated as the nation's No. 2 overall prospect. He's the highest-rated Georgia kid since Favors was No. 1 in 2009.

On Monday evening, Scout.com's Evan Daniels reported that Brown is down to five schools: Cal, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan and UNC.

Tech was Brown’s first college offer. Both the Jackets and UGA were considered long shots because he never took official visits to either, nor did he make unofficial visits during last season – as originally planned – due to scheduling conflicts.
