Wet weather makes its return Thursday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“Plan on some wet weather, but I don’t think your (morning) commute is going to be greatly impacted by that,” Channel 2 Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

The evening commute may be a different story.

Isolated strong or severe thunderstorms could bring damaging wind gusts between 40 and 60 mph and small hail. Metro Atlanta could get up to an inch of rain in some areas.

“We have a cold pocket of air across North Georgia and we could see some small hail as a result of that,” Burns said.

Rain should arrive by noon and a “rumble” of thunder should hit by 5 p.m., Burns said.

The latest weather models indicate that isolated, severe thunderstorms will arrive between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Channel 2 Action News reported.

“It’s going to move out rather quickly,” Burns said.

By 11 p.m. Thursday, showers should be gone.

Temperatures should stay in the 60s, with the high reaching 65, according to Channel 2. The average high for this time of year is 75.

For much of Wednesday, metro Atlanta has stayed dry with only a few clouds. Currently, the temperature is 63 degrees in Atlanta.

Pollen was back in the high range after two days in the moderate range. The count increased from 24 particles per cubic meter of air Tuesday to 265 Wednesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.
