North Georgia is starting to warm up Wednesday as humidity and sunshine begin to build.
Wednesday’s projected high is 79 degrees, according to Channel 2 Action News. Temperatures in the 80s are in the forecast for Thursday, and metro Atlanta could be in the upper 80s by the weekend.

The added humidity will make for some cloudy mornings this week. Out of 14 possible hours of sunshine and daylight for this time of year, Wednesday will see 10 hours, Monahan said. Twelve hours are likely Thursday and Friday.

The mountains will continue to see the best chance of an isolated shower through Thursday, according to Channel 2. Metro Atlanta is not likely to get much in the way of rain through the weekend.
Despite a few early crashes, there are no major delays on metro Atlanta interstates Wednesday morning, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
If traffic trends from the past week are any indication, volume should remain light throughout the day, the Traffic Center reported. There have been significantly fewer drivers on the roads since the coronavirus shut down Georgia.
Since the state reopened May 1, volume has only increased by about 10%, according to the Traffic Center. Congestion has not yet returned to Atlanta’s interstate system.
