It’s dry now, but expect storms to pick up in metro Atlanta early Friday afternoon and last through the early evening.

Rain is expected to last into the weekend, starting with a 60 percent chance Friday. Chances of showers decrease to 40 percent Saturday and 20 percent Sunday and Monday.

Early Thursday, parts of metro Atlanta saw pockets of heavy rain and lightning. North Georgia is expected to get another wave of showers about 11 p.m. Thursday, but those should move out by midnight, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The rain isn’t expected to decrease temps.

Friday’s expected high is 90 degrees and temperatures should remain in the high 80s and low 90s through the weekend.

Currently, the temperature is 80 degrees. The average high for this time of year is 89.
