Expect scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder through the afternoon and evening hours Saturday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

Metro Atlanta won’t see “a total rainout, but off and on scattered showers and a few storms,” said Nitz.

A warm front is expected to move into the area Sunday afternoon and evening, bringing clouds and more showers and even a few embedded thunderstorms, Nitz said. Highs will be in the low ’70s on Saturday and Sunday.

The soggy weekend could put a damper on such outdoor events as the Inman Park Festival, the Smyrna Spring Jonquil Festival and Sunday’s Taste of Marietta.

By Monday, rain chances start to taper off and metro Atlanta will return to the mid ’70s and generally partly cloudy, Nitz said. Highs will return to the mid 70s as the week progresses, with a high of 76 forecast for Thursday and Friday.
