ORIGINAL STORY:
With unusually warm weather and some heavy rain in the recent past, metro Atlanta weather should take a pleasant turn Saturday.
Temps should be “running on the comfortable side,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said.
The expected high of 74 is right on the average for the date.
There’s no rain in the forecast. At 4:30 p.m., the temp was at 72, and the evening is “shaping up beautifully,” Walls said.
Sports will dominate many people’s day, especially in metro Atlanta. Duke will play Georgia Tech at 12:20 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium, so the game should be played mostly in the low 70s.
Kennesaw State fans won’t have to deal with construction traffic caused by the I-75/I-285 resurfacing project, since the Owls play at Gardner-Webb at 1:30 p.m.
Boiling Springs, N.C., should be rain-free and reach 70 degrees, according to local weather reports.
UGA is on the road at LSU, and Baton Rouge should see warmer weather Saturday. Temps should be in the mid-80s with only a slim 10 percent chance of rain around the 3:30 p.m. kickoff, according to local reports.
After the brief jump back into the 80s Monday, temperatures should return to the mid-70s by the middle of next week, Channel 2 chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said. A few showers could pop up during the cooldown.
