Get ready for some — be ready for this word — cold weather Saturday, with some rain thrown in.
“It is going to be cold at times across North Georgia,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

A high of 69 is expected, about 3 degrees below average, and temps should “fall fast” in the evening, Monahan said, with a low of 44 in the forecast.
Sunday should be “jacket weather,” he said, with a high of 67 and no rain expected.

Rain chances have been bumped up to 80 percent Saturday, according to Monahan.

There won’t be local football to clog up the roads to downtown Atlanta or Athens this weekend, but there will be a construction project or two that could slow things down.

Georgia Department of Transportation workers will close three lanes on I-285 in DeKalb County in conjunction with the Flat Shoals Bridge reconstruction project, according to a news release. Work was scheduled to begin Friday evening. The closures will allow crews to pour concrete in preparation for installing lights on the road.
