Near record high temps expected Sunday

Some metro Atlanta neighborhoods can expect to feel record high temperatures in the 70s Sunday, Channel 2 Action news meteorologists say.

The record high is 74 degrees set in 1938, meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

“Yesterday morning was mild,” Monahan said. “This morning is just insane for mid February.”

In Eatonton, temperatures were 25 degrees warmer early Sunday morning than Saturday morning, Monahan said.

Temperatures about 5:40 p.m. were 72 degrees in Atlanta, 73 degrees in Rome and 73 degrees in Eatonton.

Rain showers are expected in the evening with possible thunder.
