The rain is gone, but the cooler temperatures are here to stay.

“It’s dry, it’s clear and it’s damp, but the rain has come to an end,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Any isolated showers are now south of Eatonton.

The current temp is 52 degrees in Atlanta, but a weak cold front is expected to take temperatures into the low 40s Friday morning, Channel 2 reported. Parts of North Georgia could see lows in the 30s.

The expected high Friday is 63 degrees, and Atlanta could see similar temperatures this winter thanks to La Niña.

La Niña developed in the Pacific Ocean near the equator, shifting the “pattern of jet stream father north,” Nitz said. Temperatures in the Southeast are expected to be warmer and drier than normal from December to February.

“That does not mean we won’t have any cool snaps, ice or snow,” Nitz said. “We could still have that mixed in.”

Temps should remain in the 50s during the weekend with a 20 percent chance of rain Sunday.
