Pack an umbrella.
You’ll need it for Tuesday morning and afternoon showers.
Light showers are expected to hit the metro area about 7 a.m. with cloudy skies, Channel 2 Action News Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
“You’ve got hear and humidity and they’re going to team up again to give us a chance of for showers,” he said.
There is a 40 percent chance of rain Tuesday with isolated showers expected to return about noon. Downpours are expected to hit Atlanta again by 3 p.m. and should be south of the metro area by 6 p.m., Burns said.
And when it rain it pours.
“As we go through the night and day, you’re going to see more tropical air,” Burns said.
This means the air’s moisture is expected to settled over Georgia and when combined with heat will likely bring showers, he said.
“Steering currents are weak this time of year,” Burns said. “So storms that form in this tropical air will always bring heavy rain.”
Expect a wet week with a 30 percent chance of rain Wednesday and Thursday and a 40 percent chance Friday. Rain chances increase to 60 percent Saturday.
But the wet weather won’t cool temperatures.
Tuesday’s expected low is 72 degrees. The expected high is 89 degrees, putting temperatures on par with the average for this time of year.
Monday’s high reached 90 degrees a rarity for this time of year, which saw 30 days of 90-degree weather in 2016. This year only nine days have reached the 90s.
