The day will start off warm and partly cloudy, but as the afternoon progresses the metro area will see a brighter sky, according to Channel 2 Action New meteorologist Brian Monahan.

However, the weather won’t be as nice along Georgia’s coast, Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said.  Coastal Georgia will be impacted by Hurricane Dorian as it nears the shore.

The storm is classified as a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 185 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say the hurricane will move slowly up the East Coast, and storm surge and flooding are risks in coastal areas.

The hurricane is not predicted to make landfall in Georgia, but Walls said flooding, heavy rainfall and storm surge are all risks as the storm comes through. NWS warns that because of the size of the storm, small deviations in the track can create large changes in the impacts in the state.
