The heat is on, Atlanta.
Monday is set to kick off the hottest week of the year so far, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.
While he doesn't anticipate any record-breaking temperatures, Monahan said it'll be a scorcher with a high of 91 degrees in the forecast.
"It's going to be the first real shot of that extreme summertime heat," he said.
The morning is off to a comfortable start with temperatures in the low and mid-70s.
Things will start to heat up going into the afternoon, according to Monahan. Temperatures will increase to 83 degrees by noon, 85 by 1 p.m. and 86 by 2 p.m.

“Temperatures climb into the low and mid-90s today, and will continue to get hotter as we go on through the week,” he said.
Don’t count on precipitation to bring relief. There is virtually no chance of rain in the forecast until Thursday.
“Most of us will be umbrella-free,” Monahan said.
There are no trouble spots on metro Atlanta interstates, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
A crash that was blocking one right lane of I-85 North at exit 47 in Coweta County has cleared, the Traffic Center reported. “Delay free leaving Newnan,” according to the Traffic Center.
