A house was picked up and dropped in the middle of a road when storms blew through Upson County overnight, the sheriff’s office said.

No one was inside the residence when it was lifted off its foundation along Yatesville Highway, Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore told AJC.com. The home landed intact about 50 to 100 yards away on Trinity Road east of Thomaston.

Authorities have reported several trees down and other damage in the area, which is about 70 miles south of downtown Atlanta.

Crews are assessing the damage there and across parts of North Georgia after powerful storms ripped through the region.

The system produced possible tornadoes in Chattooga County in northwest Georgia and south Fulton County in metro Atlanta, as well as Putnam and Upson counties to the south. The National Weather Service is still working to confirm those reports and identify storm tracks.

At least six people were killed and dozens were injured during the severe weather, according to officials. Thousands of Georgia Power and Georgia EMC customers do not have service.
