The balmy weather Atlanta had earlier this week won’t return until Friday.

Until then, pull out that windbreaker.

Temperatures Wednesday were about 15 degrees lower than they were Tuesday, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Currently, it’s 55 degrees in Atlanta, which reached a high of 61 — one degree above the projected high. Wind gusts reached 21 mph, Channel 2 reported, but have been at 14 mph since roughly 9 p.m.

“Winds will settle down a little bit tonight, but not go completely calm,” Channel 2 Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Colder temperatures are on tap overnight. The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for multiple counties, including Bartow, Cherokee and Paulding.

Temps in the low 30s are likely during the warning, which is set to last from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday.

“Hope you did not plant too early,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said. “Tender plants could be damaged or killed.”

Although Atlanta is expecting a low in the 30s as well, it is not included in the freeze warning. Temps should stay above the freezing point in the city, according to Channel 2.

Thursday’s forecast high is 65 degrees. Temps should reach 70 by Friday.
